John bates Couture 1970s vintage pleated two piece suit / Deco / Jean Varon
Mouthwatering John Bates couture mid-late 1970s pleated skirt suit!
The top half features mouldable balloon sleeves that have a life of they're own!.
This Mushroom coloured jacket and maxi skirt set is very striking, made from a finely pleated poly fabric which holds and creates a divine silhouette.
The skirt comes right down to the floor which requires the wearer to style it with platform shoes...a typical design trait of the 70s...
Skirt has side zipper and button fastening at the waist. Jacket falls freely open.
This piece is reminiscent of Mariano Fortuny, who also inspired Issey Miyake who started pleating later than this piece in the 1980s.
A stunning and wearable piece of fashion history by renowned British designer John Bates.
